Beginning to Plein Air Paint

This summer I needed a break from commuting, so I thought it was the perfect time to start using my plein air supplies I bought years ago! The thought of plein air painting has always come with a bit of anxiety to me. There is so much outside how do you decide what to paint and how to you get the vastness of nature onto a teeny-tiny board? Plus you have to dress for the weather and it's like bugs have never seen paint before! Here are my first attempts.

First plein air painting of the summer! Wanted to take advantage of being so close to the Museum of Science and Industry.

I got the okay to paint in the grass in front the Museum.

I started to melt in this spot so I went back to shady views.

I found a pond!!! I painted here until I was visited by a mouse, well at least I'm calling it a mouse.
