Copy of Giavanni Battista Quadrone "Ritorno dalla Caccia"

This was my first commission after leaving The Florence Academy of Art in 2009! It was so long ago I didn't have a website or even a computer. I had just moved to Chicago and was navigating the city without a smartphone (I got lost A LOT)! A dear friend living in Florence asked if I was interested in doing a commission for her friend Mario, I said yes without seeing the painting first. Luckily The Art Institue of Chicago had a book of Quadrone's work so I was able to get a high-resolution image of this painting to work from. With my friend Judy helping me with the language barrier, Mario gave me my first commission! Copy of Giavanni Battista Quadrone "Ritorno dalla Caccia" 18" x 24" oil on canvas. I worked on this painting for over 1 year in between moving apartments and art studios, babysitting jobs and waiting tables! Fortunately I've always had great roommates who do not mind the smell of lindseed oil and turps!

Copy of Todd Sander's “Greetings From Austin” Mural

The family I used to babysit for in Austin, Texas asked me to paint a copy of Todd Sander's "Greetings from Austin" mural in their home before I left. I had never painted a mural or anything this big before. I can't remember the dimensions of the wall but everything is bigger in Texas. This was also my first time painting with acrylics. I painted this in the summer of 2014. I think the colors in the top photo are more accurate, but I didn't think to move the ladder or tape to get a decent picture of it at the time. The picture below is the finished mural ladder and tape removed! I still love hearing from the family, and hope they are still enjoying this mural!

Coloring a Castle

This painting is of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Baltimore. I've wanted to paint this church since moving here. I finally got the chance to paint it from Patterson Park! Which is a lovely park in Baltimore if you are in the area. While I was working on this painting some children walking by told me they liked my "coloring of a castle" which I thought was really cute way of describing plein air painting.

This painting is 8x10 inches. Oil on canvas. It was framed at the Unicorn Studio and Frame and is currently available at Kaya Furniture and Design here in Baltimore, Maryland.

Copy of Louis Marie Henri Raoul Prat

I started this copy a long time ago and had to put it on hold. It's rather large, and I didn't have the space to work on it again until recently. The artist is Louis Marie Henri Raoul Prat. His figure drawing, "Figure Designee D'apres Nature" is located at Ecole nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, I requested a high-resolution image through Art Resource for this project. The drawing is 25" x 18" charcoal and white chalk on roma paper.

I recently got this drawing framed at the Unicorn Studio and Frame. Thanks Pat, drawings always look better in a frame!

Shoshi with her Savtah

Shortly after moving to Baltimore, I had the pleasure of meeting Shlomi. He makes custom furniture which can be seen at his furniture store, Kaya Furniture Design, here in Fells Point. His impressive furniture is what drew me into his shop intially, from the moment I met him he and his wife Jill have welcomed me to Baltimore. I am honored to have my paintings displayed among his beautiful furniture. This drawing is of his youngest daugher Shoshi, who is a promising young artist, with her Grandmother.

I've been wanting to work on a painting that I could take beyond a study for some time now. Having a place to set something up and creating a schedule that allows me to work on one project regularly has been challanging. Between moving, switching jobs, and returning to study, this is the first painting I've finished in years. I painted this over the course of months, working on it when I've had time. In retrospect, I accidentally took the long road. I'm calling this one done, and I am looking forward to moving on to the next one!

Portraits of the Palette
